The countdown has begun for an extraordinary cosmic event as Children's Museum Houston gears up to host a series of captivating Facebook Live streams to celebrate the total solar eclipse in partnership with with Houston Chronicle Meteorologist, Justin Ballard.
The live streams will kick off with an electrifying introduction featuring the Museum’s social media interstellar stars, educators John, Jacob, and LB (who have been donning planetary costumes on IG and Tik-Tok teasing the Museum’s solar eclipse programming) followed by a comprehensive explanation of the solar eclipse, ensuring viewers understand the magic unfolding in the sky. As the partial eclipse begins, educators will provide valuable insights into the difference between partiality and totality, emphasizing safety measures to observe this awe-inspiring event.
Moon Craters At-Home with Pilar: Join educator Pilar live from Community Family Centers in Greater East End for a fun-filled moon activity you can replicate at home - creating moon craters!
DIY Pinhole Viewer with Jae: Get crafty with educator Jae live from Corpus Christi Catholic School in Southwest Houston as she demonstrates a quick DIY pinhole viewer, allowing viewers to safely witness the eclipse.
Exploring Eclipses with Devon- Big Sun, Little Moon: Live from Bammel Elementary, Educator Devon will offer a live view of the eclipse while shedding light on its impact, such as birds falling silent and the slight dropping temperature. Devon will also reiterate safety protocols for observing the eclipse firsthand.
Live View with John, Jacob & LB: Following our segment with Devon, we will bring you back live from the Children's Museum Houston to give you a live view of the eclipse with our Museum’s interstellar stars, educators John, Jacob, and LB.
Totality Observation with Jason: Finally, at Pomeroy Elementary in Pasadena, educator Jason will take viewers through live observations during totality, capturing the mesmerizing moments as the moon fully obscures the sun
