Volunteers help make the Children's Musuem Houston a joyful, engaging place for kids and families every day. Whether you're a teen looking to build leadership skills, an adult interested in giving back, or a group seeking a meaningful hands-on experience, there are many ways to get involved.
Our volunteer opportunities are designed with age-appropriate roles, clear expectations, and meaningful impact in mind so every volunteer can make a difference.

Group volunteer opportunities are designed for community organizations, schools, and corporate teams looking for short-term volunteer experience. Groups may volunteer for a half or full day and can earn volunteer service hours while supporting the Museum's mission.
Pending group size, museum needs, and availability, our groups assist with two different roles:
Individual volunteers support the Museum through ongoing services opportunities such as guest engagement, special events, and outreach activities.
Families are welcome to volunteer together. Youth ages 14-17 may participate only with a required adult chaperone who remains on-site at all times. Each family member must apply individually online. Volunteers may choose from several roles that support the museum's daily operations and visitor experience. In addition to ongoing volunteer roles, the Museum offers occasional volunteer opportunities, such as Special Event Assistants. Interested individuals are encouraged to apply through the website to be notified when these opportunities become available
Recurring Volunteer Roles
Recurring volunteer are asked to commit to at least one shift per month to help ensure reliable support for our staff and visitors.
Discovery Squad is our youth leadership program for motivated teens who want a hands-on volunteer experience. Members assist with exhibits, programs, and special activities throughout the Museum while building leadership and teamwork skills.
Discovery Squad members are asked to complete a minimum of 75 volunteer hours, either during the summer months or across the school year.
