Get ready to dance, dazzle, and party like it’s our birthday… every single week! Dust off your party hats, put on your dancing shoes, and cue the Electric Slide — because Children’s Museum Houston is celebrating 45 Years of Play with a summer-long bash that’s bringing the house down (in the best way possible)!
This summer, we’re not just cutting the birthday cake—we’re cutting a rug! The Museum is turning up the volume with our new summer theme: “Party All Summer Long!” From Memorial Day, May 26 through Aug. 10, every week is a birthday week, and you’re invited to the nonstop celebration. Expect high-energy fun, jaw-dropping activities, and exhibits that will have you dancing through decades of imagination and discovery.
And because we just can’t stop the feeling, we’ve extended our hours just for summer: Open 7 days a week, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., Memorial Day through Labor Day (closed June 9 for a private event). That’s more time to shimmy through exhibits, groove with the family, and make core memories which will leave you doing the Happy Dance all the way home!
MAY EVENTS
We’re kicking off our 45th year of play with a bang — and a whole lot of confetti. Join us for our Confetti Drop Party, where we’re not just celebrating a birthday… we’re launching a summer-long party extravaganza! Every weekend brings a new way to play, and this is your all-access pass to the fun. So grab your party hats, bring your best dance moves, and get ready to shower the sky (and yourself) in confetti as we jump into a summer of nonstop celebration!
Get ready to pop into a world of wonder at our Bubble Party! Explore the science and magic of bubbles through hands-on activities like our science touch table with Texas Bubblers, bubble art, wands, and more! It's going to be a day of laughter and soapy surprises!

Get ready to kick off summer with a vibrant splash of fun! Join us for a day packed with colorful activities like a meet & greet, art workshops, and more! Celebrate self-expression, creativity, and summer joy all day long at the Color Party—where every moment bursts with bright, bold fun!
Get ready for a wild summer adventure! Join us for a day packed with animal-themed fun, including hands-on encounters with fascinating reptiles, engaging story-time sessions, and an unforgettable live show. It’s a full day of excitement the whole family will enjoy!

The oldest national commemoration of the ending of slavery, Juneteenth, truly celebrates freedom for all. On June 19, 1865, Union soldiers arrived in Galveston to inform enslaved African-Americans of their freedom, putting into effect the Emancipation Proclamation. Today, Juneteenth celebrates education, achievement and freedom. Celebrate this pivotal moment in American history!
