About the Event

Join us for a whirlwind of creativity and discovery as we channel author and illustrator Loren Long!

Loren Long is a prolific author and illustrator, renowned for his bestselling picture book series "Otis" and his illustrations for notable works such as President Barack Obama's "Of Thee I Sing" and Matt de la Pena’s "Love." He has also contributed to modernized editions of classics like "The Little Engine That Could" and "The Night Before Christmas".

Otis Art: Create a unique piece of tractor art - just like Loren Long and his friend, Otis!

Where: Alexander Art Academy


Bat Straw Rockets:
Dive into an amazing experience illustrated by Loren Long from the book Night Song by Ari Berk, then create a bat that can really fly through the air! Spark your creativity with design with  using a variety of art materials and activities for sensory experience and exploration.

Rainbow Umbrella Card:
Join us for illustrations by Loren Long from the book Love by Matt de la Pena. Craft and create a personalized yet unique card inspired by Long's illustration and give it to someone you love.

Toy Train: All aboard! Dream of Trains as you create a three-dimensional toy train inspired by Loren Long’s illustrations.

Bee Life Cycle: Test your creativity with a crafting experience by learning about the solitary life of the Leafcutter Bee by making a necklace with its life cycle to wear!

DIY Bath Fizzies: Spark your creativity and scientist skills by using your knowledge to create a bubbly bath fizzy, turning bath time into a fun-filled science experiment!
