“The picture book experience is a safe harbor for children.” – Loren Long
This summer, come see the work of award-winning children’s book author and illustrator Loren Long. Curated by the National Center for Children’s Illustrated Literature, this exhibit features more than forty of Long’s illustrations including everyone’s favorite friendly tractor Otis, learn about the work of inspirational people in Of Thee I Sing, and help to imagine and build a better world in Someone Builds the Dream.
Exhibit grand opening is on Saturday, May 18, 2024
Exhibit ends on Saturday, September 22, 2024.
Along with viewing Loren’s award-winning illustrations, the exhibit also features hardcover editions along the wall of many of his well-loved books for families to read and share together.
You are also invited to participate in a community art piece inspired by Loren’s interest in illustrating stories that explore what it means to be human. Answer bi-weekly questions that ignite introspection, reflection, and action such as “what world do I want to build”, “who inspires me”, and “what do I dream of...” Visitor responses will be collected and turned into a future art piece.
