About

What's your blood type?  Are you a universal recipient?  Children's Museum Houston educator, Jason, explains why it's important for you to know what type of blood you have and highlights the contribution of African American surgeon and medical researcher, Charles Drew, who discovered the method for long-term storage of blood plasma and pioneered blood banking during World War II, saving countless lives then and today.  Drew protested against racial segregation in the donation of blood as it lacked scientific foundation.
