Halloween at the BOOseum!

Children’s Museum Houston stirs up a cauldron-full of frightfully fun activities as we transform into the BOOseum just in time for Halloween, Sept. 27- Oct. 31, 2025! (Closed Mondays). Whether you love creepy crawlers or ghostly games, we've conjured up a spook-tacular mash-up of events that will make your spine tingle and your heart race with excitement!  Make no bones about it!

 

For five weeks of Halloween-howling excitement, our celebration will make you cackle with delight, with eerie-sistible activities, fang-tastic interactives and hair-raising science experiments. There’s plenty of magic in the air as webring out the best in madness and mystery.

TRICK-OR-TREAT EVERY DAY:  Safe trick-or-treating happening Thursdays from 4 to 8 pm, Saturday & Sunday from 9 am to 5 pm, and from 9 am to 8 pm on Halloween! Witch way to the candy?

SAVE MONEY BY DRESSING UP IN COSTUME! Strut your stuff by showing off your Halloween costume and receive $2 off admission, Oct. 4 to 24. Tell your mummy!

GHOUL your creativity as we brew up eerie tales and fang-tastic crafts that will send shivers of fun down your spine!

  • Hansel & Gretel: Kick of the Halloween season with Express Children's Theatre's delightful spin on a classic fairytale!
  • Create a Shaky Knees Story with Megan: Join Educator Megan and other Museum visitors for a few fun games that help you create silly, spooky stories!
  • BOO!marks: It's frightening losing your place in a good book, so create a BOO!mark to mark your place!
  • Make a Codex: Learn how to make your own codex—a folded book inspired by ancient writing traditions.
  • Ghost Rings: Explore the spooky side of science by creating toroidal vortexes—whirling air rings that float through the air.
  • Boo-tacular Storytime Celebration: Celebrate Halloween with a reading of Halloween Ghost Party, then keep the fun going with a colorful confetti celebration!

  • CMHands-On: Halloween Treat: Cook up a little Halloween magic as you try out fun, spooky-themed science snacks like Dragon’s Breath, Monster Treats and more delicious surprises.
  • Ameritex Frightening Fashion Show ft. Cruella DeVille: Cruella kicks things off with a lively story, then helps kids create their own costumes before leading them to the alcove for a fabulous fashion show where she MCs the runway!
  • Halloween Character DJ: Dance, groove, and play to a Halloween-themed soundtrack spun by a costumed DJ character.
  • Sponsored by Phillips 66 - Halloween Story and a Craft: Listen to a Halloween story, then make your very own paper bag costume to wear and show off!
  • Spooky Thermoplastics: Join us in learning about thermoplastic polymers by creating your own polymer monster!

Right off the bat, we’re kicking off Halloween in style with spooky beats and ghoulishly good fun!

 

  • Trick or Treat: It's time to kick off our seasons of trick or treating! Visit five different candy stations throughout the Museum every Saturday and Sunday, 4-8 pm on Thursdays and all day on Halloween!
  • CMHands-On - Pumpkin "Carving": Create your very own glowing pumpkin masterpiece in this hands-on workshop—have all the fun of carving without any of the cleanup!
  • DJ Sally & Jack Skellington: Dance, sing, and play along to your favorite Halloween tunes!
  • Scratch Art Pumpkin Carving: Create colorful pumpkin designs using scratch art techniques for a fun, mess-free alternative to traditional carving.
  • Pumpkin Masks: It's Fall, y'all! Get in the spirit of the season by creating your own festive costume accessory!
  • Paper Strip Pumpkins: Join us in creating a 3D paper pumpkin as we gear up for Halloween season!

  • Monster Storytimes: Listen to thrilling and silly monster stories that will spark your imagination and get you in the Halloween spirit.

Howl at the moon while you bask in Houston’s ultimate Halloween party for kids. Let the ghoul times roll as you boogie to the hauntingly hip tunes of Radio ONE's wicked DJs along with monstrous characters. Be sure to come dressed in your most boo-tiful or frightfully freaky costume! Admission is FREE!
