Redbuds, Chickasaw plums, wax myrtles, and buttonbushes—which one would you like? Families had their pick at the Museum’s Earth Day celebration last month, where the Museum gave away 500 trees.
And if you didn’t have room for a new tree, there were other ways to take nature home with you. Museum educators helped children make “seed starters” with soil, clay, and wildflower seeds. Educators also presented workshops where children built their own wooden bird houses. Highlights of the day included performances about conservation and the butterfly life cycle.
Thank you to event sponsor CenterPoint Energy, to Trees For Houston for generously donating so many trees, and to the many volunteers who made this day so memorable for families.
