Background
Paper flowers are a traditional Mexican craft. They are usually used to decorate homes, altars, or plazas during festivals or celebrations, including Cinco de Mayo and el Día de los Muertos.
Materials
- Tissue paper cut into 5" squares
- Pipe cleaners
- Scissors
Procedure
- Choose two or more sheets of tissue paper.
- Lay the sheets of tissue paper on top of one another.
- Fold the stacked tissue paper like a fan.
- Wrap one end of a pipe cleaner around the center of the folded paper and twist the pipe cleaner until secure. This is the stem of your flower.
- Separate the layers of tissue paper, and shape your flower.
