Become immersed in Houston's diverse Asian heritage and ring in the Lunar New Year. Enjoy a day of performances and inspired activities celebrating the Year of the Fire Horse.

WHAT'S HAPPENING

Saturday, Feburary 14

Soaring Phoenix Lion Dance: Experience the energy and beauty of a traditional lion dance in this truly unforgettable performance!

When: At 11 am in Playscape and at 2 pm in Kids' Hall

Diabolo (Chinese Yo-Yo) Performance: Witness the art of the diabolo, a traditional Chinese yo-yo, as it spins and soars in a vibrant performance by Rice University student Mika Chang.

When: At 1:30 pm in Brown Auditorium

Ruby’s Chinese New Year: Join Ruby and her zodiac friends in Houston Grand Opera’s interactive storybook opera where the spirit of the zodiac comes alive and every choice leads to an unforgettable adventure.

When: At 3 pm in Brown Auditorium

Horse Puppets: Create movable puppets in this maker activity celebrating the Year of the Horse.

When: All Day in Maker Annex

Lunar New Year Crafts: Celebrate Lunar New Year by creating colorful paper lanterns, spinning a Chinese Zodiac wheel to discover your animal, and building a lion dance puppet to dance into the new year.

When: All Day in Kaleidoscope

Dance of Asian America: Join us for a mesmerizing traditional Chinese dance performance showcasing vibrant costumes, authentic music and award-winning choreography.

When: At 12 pm in Brown Auditiorium
