Diwali is India's grandest holiday of the year. The festival gets its name from the row (avali) of clay lamps (deepa) that Indians light outside their homes.

Diwali, (also known as Dipawali), is India's largest holiday of the year. During this holiday, it is tradition to light clay lamps (deepa) outside your home to symbolize protection from darkness. This festival is as relevant to Hindus as the Christmas holiday is to Christians. Celebrate this Hindu holiday at the Museum with culturally rich activities during a very special Free Family Night!
