HOUSTON (June 16, 2025) – Freedom rings and the beat goes on at Children’s Museum Houston! Join us for a powerful, playful, and pride-filled Juneteenth Celebration honoring the rich legacy and enduring spirit of African American history and culture.
Known as the nation’s “second Independence Day,” Juneteenth commemorates the end of slavery in the U.S. On June 19, 1865, more than two years after the Emancipation Proclamation was signed, Union soldiers arrived in Galveston, Texas, to declare that enslaved people were finally free. Fast forward 160 years later, we’re cranking up the joy, creativity, and community to honor that historic moment!
