Build-a-Ramp Tester
Inspired by: How Does It Work?
Recommended Age: 36–60 months
How this supports your child’s development:
• STEM Thinking (exploring force, motion, and speed)
• Executive Function (predicting, testing, adjusting)
• Fine Motor Skills (building with materials)
• Language & Literacy (describing outcomes, comparing results)
At-Home Setup & Instructions:
Use books, cardboard, blocks, wrapping paper tubes or foam pool noodles cut in half, paper towel tubes as tunnels, etc. to create ramps at different heights. Roll toy cars or balls and test how fast or far they go. Try changing the slope or surface and compare what happens.
Parent Tip:
Ask questions like “Which car went farther?” or “What if we make it steeper?” to support experimentation and observation.
