Winter Themed Sensory Friendly Day at Children's Museum Houston

Children's Museum Houston hosts exclusive winter holiday Sensory Friendly event featuring Santa, The Nutcracker performance, therapy dogs and more!

Monday, Dec. 18, beginning at 10 a.m.

Children’s Museum Houston invites you to an exclusive holiday event for children with Autism.  Sensory Friendly Day is an opportunity for kids with autism spectrum disorders (ASD) and sensory processing differences to explore the Museum.

  • Doors will be closed to the public.
  • There will be no music and sound-reducing headphones will be available.
  • Outside food and drinks will be allowed (Fresh Café will be closed).  

 

SPECIAL EVENTS:

Santa Claus:  Bring your wish list and snap a selfie with Santa!

Event Time:  From 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in Kids’ Hall Alcove.

 

Faithful Paws:  Experience unconditional love and furry comfort with trained therapy pets.

Event Time: From 10 a.m. to noon in Tree Top.

 

Intempo Dance Troupe: Get into the holiday spirit with a special performance of The Nutcracker.

Event Time:  At 11 a.m. in Brown Auditorium.

 

Holiday Story Time:  Join us for a cozy holiday reading experience!  

Event Time: At 11 and 11:30 a.m. and noon in Parent Resource Library.

 

Sensory Resources:  Visit with ACES, Autism Moms of Houston, Easter Seals of Greater Houston, Workforce Solutions and SPARKS for developmental, behavioral resources.

Event Time:  From 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. in Kids’ Hall.

 

Cognitive Development Lab:  Explore learning processes with UH students.

Event Time:  From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in New Kids’ Hall.

Sensory Friendly Day, Dec. 18, 2023, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

  • At Fort Bend Children’s Discovery Center:  April 8.

  • SENSORY FRIENDLY DAY SPECIAL HOURS:  10 a.m.to 2 p.m.
  • Special Sensory Friendly Day Admission:  $8 per person. Children under one and Museum Members receive free admission.
