Treasure Hole Explorer
Inspired by: Crawler Cruise
Recommended Age: 6–12 months
How this supports your child’s development:
• Gross Motor (crawling, reaching, pulling up)
• Object Permanence (discovering hidden items, understanding they still exist)
• Fine Motor (grasping and retrieving objects)
• Cognitive (problem-solving through exploration)
At-Home Setup & Instructions:
Place a large cardboard box upside down and cut 2–3 holes big enough for baby’s hand to reach in. Hide soft toys, textured balls, household items such as a sponge, small spoon, etc. just inside the holes. Encourage your baby to crawl up, peek in, and pull out the “treasure.” Rotate objects each time to keep it novel.
Parent Tip:
Pause before each discovery and say, “Hmm... what’s inside?” This builds anticipation and reinforces the idea that hidden things still exist, which is a big cognitive milestone at this age.
