Mirror Me: Tummy Time Together
Inspired by: Tot*Spot Puddle + Mirrors from Crawler Cruise
Recommended Age: 0–6 months
How this supports your child’s development:
• Gross Motor (building strength in neck, arms, and core: foundational for crawling)
• Social-Emotional (bonding through eye contact, shared attention)
• Language (hearing descriptive words, labeling face parts)
• Visual Tracking (watching faces, reflections, or toys)
• Cognitive (noticing cause and effect — “I move, my reflection moves!”)
At-Home Setup & Instructions:
Lay a small baby-safe mirror flat on the floor during tummy time. Sit facing your baby, so they can see both you and their reflection. You can also place a photo of a familiar face next to the mirror, or a simple black-and-white card for contrast. Try lying side by side and mimicking each other’s sounds or movements.
Parent Tip:
Babies love faces—yours and their own! Pause and smile at your baby in the mirror. Describe what’s happening: “There’s your nose! Look, we’re both moving!” This supports social bonding and encourages motor engagement during tummy time.
