Yeehaw, art lovers! Saddle up and mosey on over to Children’s Museum Houston, where you can experience a slice of the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo™—no boots, buckles, or bull riding required. That’s right: the spirit of the Rodeo has galloped straight into the Museum through a vibrant, student-powered art exhibition that’s as inspiring as it is colorful.

Rodeo Meets Picasso (With a Texas Twist)

The Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo™ isn’t just about funnel cakes and famous headliners. It’s also deeply rooted in education, agriculture, and celebrating Western heritage. One of its most exciting (and creative!) educational initiatives is the School Art Program, and we’re thrilled to showcase award-winning student artwork from the 2025 Rodeo season right here at the Museum.

Students from across the Houston area put pencil to paper, brush to canvas, and imagination into overdrive to create works that celebrate Texas culture, agriculture, and life in the Lone Star State. The result? A gallery experience that’s equal parts rootin’, tootin’, and truly moving.

Art With Grit, Heart, and a Whole Lot of Talent

This is art and an opportunity in action. The Rodeo’s School Art Program challenges students to think outside the frame while giving them the chance to:

  • Compete in district-level art shows
  • Earn scholarships (yes, art can pay the bills!)
  • Travel to summer workshops
  • See their work displayed in the prestigious Hayloft Gallery during the Rodeo

And now, you can see that same award-winning creativity up close at Children’s Museum Houston. Talk about a blue-ribbon experience!

A Must-See for Families and Educators

Calling all educators, parents, and pint-sized Picassos: this exhibit is a fantastic way to spark conversations about creativity, culture, and the power of arts education. It highlights the incredible talent of students from around Houston and shows just how impactful community-supported programs like the Rodeo’s School Art Program can be.

Whether your child dreams of being an artist, an ag scientist, or a little bit of both, this exhibition proves that creativity and curiosity go hand in hand.

No Spurs Needed—Just Curiosity

So if you’re craving a Rodeo fix but don’t want to battle traffic, dust, or crowds, we’ve got you covered. Giddy up to Children’s Museum Houston and experience the artistic heart of the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo™, where young artists shine, big dreams take shape, and creativity always wins Best in Show.
