A’STEAM operates with the goal of enhancing afterschool learning for elementary and middle school students through engaging, hands-on science explorations led by the Museum’s degreed educators. Each weekly session features activities that spark curiosity, along with extension questions and a Parent Connects guide for continued learning at home. Built on more than two decades of curriculum refinement, the program emphasizes key STEAM concepts that children often find challenging in school—making complex ideas approachable and fun.
Through small-group design challenges, experiments, and focused STEAM vocabulary, A’STEAM helps children gain confidence in their ability to think critically and creatively. Running from October through May, the program connects classroom learning to meaningful, real-world experiences—fostering problem-solving skills and a deeper appreciation for how science, technology, engineering, art, and math shape the world around them
