Annual Martel Award - Early Childhood Educator

The Children's Museum of Houston is seeking an outstanding early childhood educator for the 13th Annual Martel Award!

exhibits for younger childrenThe Marian and Speros Martel Early Childhood Educator Award is presented annually to an outstanding professional that possesses an exemplary commitment to the education of young children in Houston. Know someone who qualifies?  Nominate that person! 

The winner will be awarded a $1,000 honorarium and a One-Year Membership to the Children's Museum during a ceremony in April 2012. Early Childhood Educators are invited to submit their own applications. All applications are due Tuesday, Nov. 29, 2011.

Requirements:
  • Candidates must be the teacher of record (no specialists) in a classroom with children eight years of age and younger, have an associate's or bachelor's degree in education, Montessori certification or Child Development Associate Certification and at least five years of current classroom experience.  (specialist teachers are Art, PE and Music)

  • Applications must be received at the Children's Museum of Houston's info booth, 1500 Binz, by 5 p.m. on Tuesday, November 29, 2011.

  • Parents, Principals or Others who would like to nominate an Early Childhood teacher may do so by sending their nominee’s name, address and telephone to the email address below by Friday, November 18, 2011.
