Fundraising Events at the Children's Museum of Houston

Please join us for the 2010 Parents and Families Luncheon, chaired by Susana Brener de Stern, Jessica Stern Meyer and Jennifer Stern. This event is both educational and uplifting, where parents, families, and educators can come together for inspiration and insight. Wednesday, March 3rd at River Oaks Country Club at 11:00 am we will welcome as our keynote speaker Erin Gruwell, author of The Freedom Writers Diary and inspiration for the film Freedom Writers starring Hilary Swank. Erin’s unorthodox teaching methods led to a transformation of her students—the lowest performing students at a racially divided school in Long Beach, California—instilling in them a passion for reading and writing and putting these formerly “unteachable” kids on a positive track for the future. All 150 of Erin’s students went on to graduate from high school and attend college. Just like the Children’s Museum, Erin uses a passion for education and innovative teaching methods to transform communities, and we are thrilled to be bringing her to Houston.
Tables of ten are available for $10,000, $5,000, $2,500 and $1,500. Individual tickets are available for $500, $250 and $150.
