The Children’s Museum of Houston’s Science Workshop at Edison Middle School is located in Houston’s East End. There are seven HISD elementary schools within a 1.5-mile radius of Edison. The closest, Franklin Elementary, is just 3 blocks away.

Two nearby schools are 21st Century Community Learning Centers and thus have transportation funds at their disposal. And one last school is located on a Metro bus system route.

Also within a 1.5 mile radius is Stanaker Library (a branch of the Houston Public Library system) and the Houston Parks and Recreation Department's De Zavala Community Center.
