Funded by the National Science Foundation, The Children’s Museum of Houston’s Science Workshop at Edison Middle School promotes and supports inquiry-based science for children, parents and teachers in Houston ISD’s East End.

The Children’s Museum of Houston is one of eight organizations and the only one in Texas to be chosen to create this revolutionary science workshop based on the national model originating in the Mission District of San Francisco, in partnership with the City College of San Francisco, San Francisco State University (SFSU), the San Francisco Unified School District and community based educators.

Students have created a fun, interactive environment in which they feel empowered to explore their own interests while, at the same time, have the freedom to interact with other students and to develop projects together.
