Rosie's Treehouse

Rosie is an aspiring scientist who suffers from allergies. Visitors learn about indoor air quality and common allergy causes by: examining Rosie's dust collection using microscopes, playing Allergies True/False, battling dust balls at The Big Achoo, and revealing hidden allergens with the Allergen Detectors.
  • Rosie's Video Microscope - Use a video microscope to view Rosie's dust collection.
  • The Big Achoo - Play a pinball game to keep dust particle balls from reaching the lungs.
  • Allergen Detectors - Use a special light detector to reveal hidden indoor allergens.
  • Allergies: True or False - Reveal answers to True or False allergy questions with Rosie’s special toaster.
  • Riff’s Lung-O-Meter - Check out Riff’s lung model and learn how our lungs work.
  • Brightwater Corners Puppet Theater - Tell your own environmental story using woodland animal puppets.
  • Rosie’s Scavenger Hunt - Pick up a scavenger hunt card and answer the questions.
  • Mailbox Postcards - Read postcards about indoor air quality and explore the exhibit to find the answers.

Mr. Slaptail's House

Mr. Slaptail is a retired engineer who spends most of his time building environmentally friendly contraptions. Mr. Slaptail's House is full of fun toys, wacky inventions, and interesting scientific experiments. By exploring rotting food in the Gross-Me-Out refrigerator, playing Race to the Peak, and talking with "real" scientists, visitors help Mr. Slaptail investigate how the air he breathes, the water he drinks, and the food he eats affects his health.
  • Gross-Me-Out - Check out the refrigerator for a time-lapse video of food rotting and examine actual rotting food.
  • Race to the Peak - Answer questions about food choices and race to the top of a pyramid with Riff and Rosie.
  • Meet the Scientists- Listen to voices of scientists who are helping Mr. Slaptail solve the environmental mysteries of Brightwater Corners.
  • Inventor’s Bench - Create a model, an invention or a collage to take home.

Marigold Marsh

Riff visits Brightwater Corners every summer. Over the years he has observed many changes in Marigold Marsh. Visitors help Riff: figure out the sources of the marsh's pollution and how to stop future pollution at Clean It Up, investigate Brightwater Corners' water quality at Mucky Waters, and clean Mr. Slaptail's water at the 3-D Water Puzzle.
  • Clean it up - Remove pollutants from the water before they reach Riff and Rosie's swimming hole.
  • Fishing for Clues - Use fishing poles to fish out clues to why the marsh is polluted.
  • Mucky Waters - Gather samples from the well and take them to the analyzer to investigate what is in Brightwater Corners' water.
  • Fillin' Up Riff - Turn the handle and watch the water beads move from the drinking glasses to Riff's body.
  • Resource Center - Enjoy a book from the "My Health, My World" series or play the board game "We're All a Little Different on the Inside".
  • Water Puzzle - Use 3-D puzzle pieces to move water from the lake to the water treatment plant and then to Mr. Slaptail's bathtub.
  • Bio Build Up - Learn how animals are affected by water pollution by playing this game.

Over 25 hands-on activities in three component areas:
  • Rosie's Treehouse
  • Mr. Slaptail's House
  • Marigold Marsh
