Parent Stars is a family engagement program that provides parents with resources that empower them to take an active part in their child’s learning.
Family Learning Events are held at the school. Parents and children engage in hands-on activities that focus on science, math and literacy. At every event, there is a book nook containing children’s picture books related to that evening’s theme.
Parent Workshops present information to parents on issues that concern them. The sessions are designed for parents only, but toddlers are welcome. Some of the topics include How Children Learn Best, Your Child’s Self Esteem, and Loving Limits.
Parent Stars Calendars are sent home to the parents each month. They contain daily activities that parents can do with their children, reminders about Parent Stars events at the school, and information about Wonder Weekend themes and activities at the Children’s Museum
Activity Guide Books help parents create a rich learning environment at home. The books are bilingual and feature some of the activities covered in Family Learning Events and Parent Workshops.
Field Experience Trips. The Museum offers hands-on programs in science and technology, history and culture, health and human development, math, literacy and the arts through interactive exhibits and innovative workshops. Programs at the Museum are developed with TEKS and national standards in mind.
Family Adventures are an opportunity for the whole family to visit the Museum on a Thursday Free Family Night (5-8 p.m.).
