HOUSTON (Sept. 14, 2015) – Monstrous mayhem will be unleashed when the Children’s Museum of Houston is transmogrified into the Monsters’ Museum of Houston for three weeks of Halloween. From Oct. 10 to 31,2015, we dare you to witness how monsters have rummaged, scoured, combed, and turned upside down the Museum to make room for their monster lairs. This hair-raising experience will allow you to “catch monsters” in the act, interact with their pals, participate in monster hobbies, and discover why monsters may be just simply misunderstood!
Go on a trick-or-treat monster hunt, 4 – 6 p.m. weekdays, 4 – 8 Thursdays, and all day weekends through Halloween Night!
Don’t let monsters feed on innocent pumpkins. Paint pumpkins to disguise as monsters, Oct. 31.
Become a creature of the night and fly through the cold sky with a pair of Stella Bat Wings., Oct. 15 - 31.
Don’t terrify on your own. Catch a Frightening Fashion Show, Oct. 17.
Master the monster language by making HowlingMonster Calls, Oct. 10 – 14.
Make Drippy Monsters appear or disappear, Oct. 10 to 14.
Examine a squishy collection of Monster Eyeballs, Oct. 10 – 14.
Attach Monster Feet to your own, Oct. 24.
Party with DJ Zin during Moe’s Monster Mash Bash till 8 p.m. on Oct. 31!
The Museum’s beloved Moe Monster will steer you through a gnarling Halloween adventure complete with daring dragons, ghastly ghosts, rotten mummies, otherworldly aliens, man-eating plants, musical skeletons and more, with the intention of learning from the best and brightest in Monsterdom! Let him be your guide or Adopt-a-Monster (Oct. 10 – 14).
We encourage you to drop your human disguise, dress in a menacing monster costume and release your inner monster to avoid raising suspicion from other monsters and their pals (let’s not provoke them). Join Monsterdom and blend into the crowd of monsters when you wear your own One Eyed, One Horned Monster Hat (Oct. 10 – 14), Zombie Brain Mask and Glow in the Dark Skeleton Bone Necklace (Oct. 15 – 31) or simply stop by Halloween Street and put on a Monster Mask Disguise (Oct. 15 – 31).
Uncover the “terribly gone wrong” experiments concealed in the Crazed Chemist Lab where Frankenstein’s wrath is set to be unleashed.
Get caught in a web of mystery at the Spider Lair where some of the most sinister spiders reside and Ghosts in Bottles are charged with a spirited life force (Oct 10 – 14). This is where mysterious monster hobbies are untangled every week and MoaningMonsters call out for the monster within you (Oct. 10 – 14). Watch Ghost Pearls vanish into a poof of smoke (Oct. 15 -31) and crack open liquid light energy in Glow Bracelet Chemistry (Oct. 15 – 31).
The Bat Colony’s “infestation” will make you wish you were blind as a bat. This shuddery sight will make you want to flap your bat wings to get away. But it may also change your perspective on how bats are more than meets the eye. Plus, hidden spiders and coral snakes lurk within. Design a Spider Hat or a Coral Snake Bracelet (Oct. 15 – 31) to pay respect to these venomous creatures.
Head outside to the Pumpkin Patch for a well-deserved photo opp. Bring your camera! Abominable stories about terrible singing monsters await you at the Haunted Library. Don’t forget there’s trick-or-treating 4 to 6 p.m., Tuesday to Friday, 4 – 8 p.m. on Thursdays, and all day weekends and Halloween Day!
MOE’S MONSTER MASH BASH AND MONSTER DRIVE-IN OCT. 31, 4 to 8 P.M.
Howl at the moon while you bask in Houston’s ultimate Halloween party for kids. Let the ghoul times roll as you boogie to the hauntingly hip tunes of DJZin during Moe’s Monster Mash Bash. The event will feature Pumpkin Painting (4 – 7:30 p.m.), dancing and trick-or-treating from 4 to 8 p.m. on Oct. 31!Be sure to come dressed in your most boo-tiful or frightfully freaky monster costume and catch a late night flick at the Monster Drive-In (6:15 p.m.)!
