NanoDays: Science of the Super Small

Learn all about the stuff too small to see using microscopes, telescopes, magnifying glasses and more!  Watch surprising demonstrations, participate in fun activities related to scale and measurement, and even construct your own minuscule vehicle!

   Featured Activities:
  • Centimeter Snake: Help make this snake reach a grown-up length in centimeters, which are many times bigger than nanometers. This might bite if you don’t get it right!
  • Nano Shape:  Create your own carbon atom by building a Bucky Ball from scratch!  A Bucky Ball is a molecule made of carbon atoms arranged in a special way.
  • Nano in Science: Take a closer look at everyday materials and objects by using Scope-on-a-Rope.  Learn why scientists use special tools to study on the nanoscale.

  • What’s the Point?: Create a masterpiece all out of tiny dots! Pointilist artists paint with tiny dots instead of brushstrokes. Maybe you will be the next George Seurat!
    April 1-8:   Event time:  10 a.m. – 3 p.m.
  • Capsela Construction: Do you know how a car works? How about a tractor? Learn how all the small parts of these vehicles come together to produce working devices!
Event time:  All day; limited Sat. & Sun.
  • Spotlight Performance: Ensemble Theatre. This high energy company will have you up and moving it.
Thursday, April 2: 6:30 p.m. during Free Family Night
    Saturday, April 4:  2 p.m.
