The stars and stripes will be in full effect as we celebrate our country’s 236th birthday at the Children’s Museum of Houston 2012 Summer of Fun!  Before rockets glare and fireworks are in the air, exercise your right to be a kid as long as possible with some good ole American fun.  The High Steppers Brass Band will lead you to our patriotic elephant toothpaste demo followed by our daily dance party.  Don’t forget to wear your red, white, and blue to pay tribute to the land of the free and the home of the brave.

SPECIAL EVENTS:

•Flag Waving Parade lead by High Steppers Brass Band and Boy Scout Color Guard:  Join the brass band and the scouts as you honor Lady Liberty through Kidtropolis, USA out to the Allen Family Courtyard.
Event Time:  Parade leaves at 2 p.m. from the Alcove

•Elephant Toothpaste Patriotic Foam Eruption:  Join us for a jawdropping, increasingly collosal burst of patriotic red, white and blue.
Event Time:  2:15 p.m in the Allen Family Courtyard.

•DG Dance Party:  Join our Discovery Guide dance troupe for some rockin’ fun.  
Event Time:  2 p.m. in the Alcove.

ON-GOING ACTIVITIES: 

•LED Glasses:  We’ve got an eye for patriotism. Stop by the Inventors’ Workshop to build your own fashionable 4th of July shades.

•Scratch Art Fireworks:  Channel artist Paul Klee by creating from scratch colorful pastel fireworks at the Alexander Art Academy.

•Patriotic Pinwheel: Make our nation’s colors spin in the wind at Junktion.

•Spinning Disk Illusion:  Craft a patriotic optical illusion at Junktion.

•Patriotic Party Lei:  Make a red, white, and blue necklace at Junktion.
