Fiction, Fantasy and Fun

Join us for Fiction, Fantasy and Fun!

You're invited to celebrate the enchanting world of reading in observation of National Children’s Book Week
May 3 – 9

Turn a new page and let yourself get lost in your favorite fairy tale!  Join us as we celebrate the adventures of summer reading and children’s literature.  Each year, the Children’s Book Council asks children from around the country to vote on their favorite books in observation of National Children’s Book Week (May 7 – 13). So stop by and indulge in the fantastical stories of the Brothers Grimm, Hans Christian Anderson and many more!

ON-GOING ACTIVITIES:

•Prince and Princess Crowns: Stop by Junktion and design your very own crown and imagine you are the head of the royal court!

•Gingerbread Man Decorating: “Run, run as fast as you can; you can’t catch me, I’m the Gingerbread Man”. Read this classic tale as you decorate your very own Gingerbread Man at Junktion.

•Magic Wand:  Cast a spell and discover what magic you can “conjure” with the help of your magic wand at Junktion.

•Invent with Ernest the Balancing Bear:  Ernest the Balancing Bear is a toy able to cycle skillfully along a string.  Using wheels, wire and found materials, invent your own high wire act version at the Inventors’ Workshop.

•Fantasy Postcards:  Use crayons and colored pencils to tell everyone about your fantasy land travels at Alexander Art Academy.

•Optical Illusion Exploration:  Take a look at examples of well known optical illusions.  Figure out how they can trick your eye at Science Station.

•Flip Books:  Make still images appear to move at Science Station.

•Hidden Rainbow:  Discover the color order of a hidden rainbow at the ExxonMobil Math Cart.  Will it lead to a pot of gold?
