Geek Week

Summer of Fun proves geek is chic
June 14 – 20

We’re geek and proud.  Stop by the Children's Museum of Houston’s 2012 Summer of Fun and let your inner geekiness come out to play.  Experiment with Newton’s 1st and 3rd Laws of Motion and challenge your brain to learn the basics of physics when you design a robot during Geek Week, June 14 – 20.  It’s your right to fun!

SPECIAL EVENTS:

•Game Show:  Embark on a whirlwind adventure with a montage of games.
Event time:  Every day at 1 p.m. in the Brown Auditorium.

ON-GOING ACTIVITIES:

•Circle Logic:  Think a few moves ahead in order to succeed!  Discover the inner workings of this classic strategy game at the ExxonMobil Math Cart.
•Seega:  Learn how to think offensively and defensively.  Get caught up at the ExxonMobil Math Cart while you play this strategy game from Egypt.
•A-maze-ing Robots:  Creating accurate instructions isn’t as easy as you think!  Design a program for a “robot” using simple commands at Junktion.
•No Stress Chess:  Get into geek-mode and learn how to play chess to impress at Junktion.
•Wedgit Blocks:  Challenge yourself to make different sculptures and patterns at Junktion.
•Surviving the Fall:   Be encouraged to tinker, explore, study and observe to arrive at a solution!  Engineer a package system that will survive a 14-foot drop with the least force applied at Inventors’ Workshop.
•Metamorphosis of the Insect:  Put insect models in order based on the stages of an insect’s life cycles at EcoStation.
