Summer of Fun embarks on a backyard adventure
June 7 – 13
It’s your right to fun! If you’re longing for the ultimate summer backyard adventure, you should come to the Museum's 2012 Summer of Fun. Set out on a week filled with challenging construction and outdoor activities during Backyard Building Fun, June 7 – 13.
ON-GOING ACTIVITIES:
•Backyard Mosaics: Visit the Alexander Art Academy and become and artist for the day! Create unique mosaic art often found decorating backyards and gardens.
•Tree Forts: Use your imagination and building expertise to create a house for a tiny creature using tree blocks at Junktion.
•Craft Stick Construction: Discover your inner inventor at Junktion! Most engineering feats require little materials. What can you build using craft sticks and glue?
•Origami Houses: Can you use paper folding to make a house? What about a 3D house? Test your paper building skills at Junktion.
•Building Equations: Stop by the ExxonMobil Math Cart to build equations using numbered craft sticks.
•Geometric Buildings: Challenge yourself to building houses from simple shapes, big domes from little triangles, and beautiful curves carved from straight lines at the Inventors’ Workshop.
•Kapla Blocks: Learn about building basics such as center of gravity and balance using Kapla blocks and books at Science Station.
•Paper Bridge Challenge: Learn about the strength of different shape structures by building a bridge with one sheet of paper at Science Station.
