Superman's Birthday Bash

YOU’RE INVITED TO SUPERMAN’S BIRTHDAY!
The Man of Steel makes appearance for supersized bash at Children’s Museum of Houston’s Summer of Fun
Come dressed in superhero costume and get $2 off admission
June 30

Faster than a speeding bullet, more powerful than a locomotive, able to leap tall buildings in a single bound.  It's a bird, it's a plane, no, it's Superman!  The Man of Steel will “fly in” to the Children’s Museum of Houston’s 2012 Summer of Fun to celebrate his own birthday on June 30.  We’re throwing him a birthday bash complete with “Happy Birthday” singing, supersized “cake”, and dancing to the Superman song.  Come dressed as your favorite superhero and receive $2 off admission, June 30.

Superman first appeared in Action Comics, on June 30, 1938.  He has many abilities, including superhuman strength, super speed, super durability, regeneration, and flight.

SPECIAL EVENTS:

•Up, Up and Away!:  Hang out with the Man of Steel before he takes off to save the world!  Bring your camera.
   Event Time:  1 - 5 p.m.
•Superman’s Birthday Bash:  How old is Superman?  Congratulate him and find out his age as he “flies in” for his birthday party.  We will sing “Happy Birthday” to him and join him in a dance party in the Alcove.
   Event Time:  2 p.m.
•Super Obstacle Course Challenge:  See if you can beat Superman in completing this physical challenge in the Allen Family Courtyard.
   Event Time:  3 - 5 p.m.

ON-GOING ACTIVITIES:

•Stop Motion Animation: How are superheroes brought to life?  Explore the art of stop-motion animation at Inventors’ Workshop.
•Superhero Yoga:  Superman can’t save the world all the time!  He needs to relax with Yoga at the Power Science Lab.
•Keith Haring Action Figures:  Channel artist Keith Haring making "pop art" action figures with bold outlines and bright colors at the Alexander Art Academy.
•Design Your Own Comic Strip:  Add characters, dialogue, and action words to tell a story starring you at Junktion.
•Superhero Capes:  Superman wears a red cape.  Make your own superhero version at Junktion.
•Superhero Mask:  Superheroes must protect their secret identities.  Come to Junktion to design a mask and protect yours.
•Wind Bags:  How many breaths would it take you to blow up an 8 foot bag?  Superman could do it in one breath.  Try it at Science Station.
