This series of hands-on experiments will give children an introduction to the using measurement in science investigations such as density, fluorescence, conservation of mass, viscosity, and adhesion.
1. Sink and Float – Visitors will use scientific processes to “sink and float” several cubes made of different materials.
2. Glowing Materials – Visitors will use scientific processes to predict and test which materials will glow under a black light.
3. Comparing the Masses— Visitors will explore the idea of conservation of mass when comparing the masses of items with different shapes and sizes.
4. Viscosity Tubes— Visitors will use scientific processes to predict and test the viscosity of different liquids.
5. Sticky Situations— Visitors will use scientific processes to predict and test the adhesiveness of different types of tapes.

Explorations into Friction (all day) (NOTE: Focus Activity on )
This series of hands-on experiments will give children an introduction to the forces of friction. Children will examine three categories of friction including sliding, rolling and fluid friction.
1. Viscosity tubes and density bottles – Visitors will explore viscosity of liquids and the role that friction plays when an object travels through the liquid.
2. Parachutes – Visitors will learn about air resistance (fluid friction) as they create parachutes for a paper animal.
3. Texture Race – Visitors will test cars on rubber tracks that have different textures to see which race track travels the smoothest (least friction).
4. Hover Crafts - Learn about friction while experimenting with hovercrafts that float on air.
