On June 2, CMH is also changing its hours to serve families better! That means being able to spend time with mom or dad at CMH after their work, or having more play time at CMH after school!

“A lot of parents don’t get a chance to spend time with their kids during the day because when they get off work, most places where kids can go to close early,” said Karen Milnar, director of gallery programs. “Now, they’ll be able to hang out and have fun with their kids after work for about an hour or two.”

CMH’s NEW HOURS will be Monday to Saturday: 10 a.m. – 6 p.m. and EXTENDED SUNDAYS: Noon – 6 p.m. Thursday FREE Family Nights will remain the same from 5 to 8 p.m.

THE CHILDRENS MUSEUM OF HOUSTON SEEKS SUMMER TEEN VOLUNTEERS

HOUSTON (April 8, 2008) – Teens looking to conduct wacky science experiments, help solve innovative invention challenges, share in the excitement of learning about the environment and have a positive impact on children’s lives and more are encouraged to apply for a Summer Junior Volunteer position at the Children’s Museum of Houston.

Summer Junior Volunteers have the opportunity to work directly with Museum visitors, bringing the exhibits and programs to life. They may volunteer at the Museum for up to three, four-hour shifts per week. Shift times are Monday through Saturday, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. or 1 to 5 p.m., and Sundays, noon to 5 p.m. Available evening shifts are on Thursdays from 4 to 8 p.m. Only one shift per day is allowed.

Interested teens, ages 14 to 17, may submit their applications now through Friday, May 2. All Children’s Museum volunteers will be trained in early June to prepare them for their summer adventure!

HOUSTON (MARCH 14, 2008) - The Children's Museum of Houston’s (CMH) expanded, new building addition has reached its highest point—just a year out from the March 2009 Grand Opening! CMH staff, board members, Bellows Construction and Chase and JPMorgan executives showed their support during a March 10 “Top Off” event.

A $1 million check presentation was conducted by Chase, the largest corporate sponsor of CMH’s expansion. This generous contribution will help fund “Kidtropolis, USA” one of six new exhibits that will debut with CMH’s expansion completion in March 2009. The expanded Museum exhibits will focus on building knowledge of mathematics, science, civic engagement, financial literacy, diverse cultures and arts, personal fitness, materials science, invention and engineering, and early childhood development.
