Over 167 years ago, English inventor Stephen Perry created one of the simplest yet most useful tools around. Originally designed to hold papers or envelopes together, the rubber band has become a versatile and practical tool. Come stretch your legs and your mind as the Museum celebrates this wondrous little invention.
ON-GOING ACTIVITIES:
• Fashion Sense: Strut your stuff and make a fashion statement with an awesome rubber band design at Junktion.
• Rubb-orgami Sculptures: Stop by the Alexander Art Academy and stretch, twist and tie rubber bands to create a one-of-a-kind “Rubb-orgami” sculptures.
• Rubber Band Banjo: Get in the groove with your very own rubber band banjo and discover just how sounds are made with the vibration of a rubber band at Junktion.
• Stretch-ability: Stretch your mind AND body at the Power Science Lab with the Macro, Micro and Nano Stretch-ability game!
• Geoboards: How many shapes can you make? Stop by the ExxonMobil Math Cart and practice making various geometric shapes using geoboards and rubber bands.
• Jumping Cups: Create a rubber-band power launcher at Junktion and learn how tension can shoot something high in the sky!
