Project ACCELERATE History
 |
-
Children's Museum of Houston learned from partners at Technology For All Houston that after-school computer learning labs often do not have adequate learning resources for their participants.
-
In response Children's Museum of Houston partnered with Technology For All to develop the idea for Project ACCELERATE.
-
The project was founded on the idea that children learn best when given a variety of options and approaches.*
-
In September 2001, the Institute of Museum and Library Services gave Children's Museum of Houston and Technology For All a National Leadership Grant to launch the project, developing and testing the program over a 2-year period.
-
Based on program successes, the MetLife Foundation funded the development of 10 new culturally themed activity kits in 2003. These kits were distributed to partner sites in September 2004.
